New Antique License Plates Available in Kansas

House Bill Expands Eligibility

Starting January 1, 2013

Kansas drivers with classic cars will soon have the opportunity to display special antique license plates. House Bill 2558, recently passed by the state legislature, expands the eligibility criteria for antique plates, making them available to a wider range of vehicles.

Under the new law, any vehicle that is 35 years or older will be eligible for an antique license plate. This means that vehicles from 1989 and older will be eligible as of January 1, 2024.

The Kansas Department of Revenue estimates that there are currently 68,444 vehicles in the state that would be eligible for antique plates. Owners of these vehicles can apply for the new plates starting January 1, 2013, at their local county treasurer's office.

Antique license plates are a way to recognize and preserve the history of classic cars. They are also a way for owners to show their pride in their vehicles.

If you own a classic car that is 35 years or older, we encourage you to apply for an antique license plate. It's a great way to celebrate the history of your vehicle and show your support for the preservation of classic cars.
