UK voters poised to turn the page on 14 years of Conservative rule
Poll shows Labour on course to win election
Exit poll to be released when voting ends at 10pm
UK voters appear poised to turn the page on 14 years of Conservative rule, with an exit poll suggesting Labour is on course to win the general election.
The poll, conducted by Ipsos MORI for BBC, ITV and Sky News, predicts Labour will win 339 seats, the Conservatives will win 231 seats, the Scottish National Party will win 56 seats, the Liberal Democrats will win 13 seats and the Green Party will win one seat.
If the exit poll is accurate, it would represent a significant swing towards Labour and a major loss of seats for the Conservatives.
The exit poll is based on interviews with 20,000 voters as they left polling stations across the country.
Voting in the general election ended at 10pm and the first results are expected to be declared shortly.
