Is Gordon Ryan Retiring Struggling King Reveals Grappling Future After Exhausting Prep For Adcc 2024

Gordon Ryan Back For One Last ADCC?

Gordon Ryan Plans On Retiring Soon

ADCC Superfight Champion Gordon Ryan has announced that he will be taking a break from competition until he can resolve some lingering stomach issues. Ryan, who is widely considered to be the greatest submission grappler of all time, has stated that he still plans on competing in the 2024 ADCC World Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada.

ADCC 2024 Could Be Gordon Ryan’s Last Tournament

Ryan has expressed that if he is unable to secure rematches against Felipe Pena and Vinny Magalhaes at ADCC 2024, it could be his last tournament. Ryan has a long-standing rivalry with both Pena and Magalhaes, and he has stated that he would like to settle the score with them before he retires.

Ryan is currently scheduled to face Pena in a rematch of their 2018 ADCC superfight. Ryan defeated Pena by submission in that match, but Pena has since gone on to win the ADCC World Championship in 2019 and 2022. Ryan is also scheduled to face Magalhaes in a rematch of their 2017 ADCC superfight. Ryan defeated Magalhaes by submission in that match, but Magalhaes has since gone on to win the ADCC World Championship in 2021.

If Ryan is able to defeat Pena and Magalhaes at ADCC 2024, it would be a fitting end to his legendary career. Ryan has accomplished everything there is to accomplish in the sport of submission grappling, and he would be leaving the sport on top. However, if Ryan is unable to defeat Pena and Magalhaes, it would be a disappointing end to his career. Ryan would be leaving the sport with unfinished business, and he would always wonder what could have been.

Only time will tell what the future holds for Gordon Ryan. But one thing is for sure: ADCC 2024 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting tournaments in the history of the sport.
